Job Role

The chief purpose of the Inpatient Veterinary Technician is to assist the onsite DVM. Inpatient and general care veterinary technicians are qualified to assist veterinarians with a variety of general procedures and emergency situations. They must be able to react quickly and remain calm under pressure.

Routine responsibilities for inpatient vet techs may vary from one clinic to the next but often include duties such as monitoring vitals, placing catheters, taking x-rays, cleaning wounds, applying casts or bandages, handling surgical equipment, giving injections, taking blood samples, giving fluids, and updating case files.

We are looking for a full-time veterinary technician (licensing is not required but is preferred). We will consider training a seasoned veterinary assistant, who demonstrates excellence in learning, teamwork, and client service. We will not interview applicants that do not meet any of these criteria.

Schedule

  • Full-Time
  • No Weekends (Monday - Friday) 
  • 4 Day Work Week

Role Requirements

Requirements for the position include but are not limited to:

  • Providing hospitality to clients and pets for the entire duration of their visits
  • Reviewing patient histories with clients during their visits
  • Gathering patient vitals and weights during their visits
  • Providing client education regarding preventative medicine
  • Reviewing recommended treatment plans with clients during their visits
  • Performing approved patient treatments, both on an inpatient and outpatient basis
  • Placing intravenous catheters
  • Performing blood draws
  • Performing induction and maintenance of anesthesia
  • Performing dental cleanings
  • Performing patient prep (both initial and sterile) for surgery
  • Performing digital radiographs
  • Reviewing discharge orders with clients
  • Cleaning and maintaining the functionality of medical equipment
  • Cleaning and maintaining the organization of exam rooms, treatment area, surgical suite, and kennel area
